New Year's Eve Party
Downtown Countdown
Washington

THE PARTY

This year we are taking the party to a whole new level with the biggest name band in Downtown Countdown history... THIRD EYE BLIND. We are once again happy to welcome DC101 as our radio partner...Elliot in the Morning and Roche will be hosting the event!

THE TICKET
Your all inclusive party ticket will include a 5 hour premium open bar (8:30pm - 1:30am), an array of exquisite cuisine, decorations, party favors and access to four party areas of entertainment.

GREAT SERVICE
With a ratio of one bartender for every 75 guests and 1 buffet station for every 250 guests, you won't spend your New Year's Eve waiting in lines. Capacity is limited to a very comfortable number.

THE CROWD
The event attracts a mid 20's to late 30's crowd, but everyone is welcome and we are known for attracting a diverse crowd, both ethnically and age-wise. We also attract an even mix of singles and couples. With 4 huge party areas, the Downtown Countdown will have something for everyone! With

THE PARTY AREAS
This year, we will show the Peach Bowl, and feature a DJ, dancing and interactive karaoke in the Grand Slam Sports Bar. Next, the Constitution Ballroom will host "Club '09", where Washington's hottest DJ's will help you dance 2009 away in a nightclub setting. Continuing downward, with over 20,000 square feet of party space, the newly renovated, Independence Ballroom will feature three bands on the main stage and will culminate at midnight with a countdown and DC's biggest balloon drop...and lastly, The Riot Act comedy showcase, featuring 5 comedians in a caberet type lounge located in Fargut Square Ballroom.

VIP AREA
For those requiring something a little more special, DC's Downtown Countdown will be offering an upscale, exclusive V.I.P. ticket. Because of the popularity over the years, the VIP area will be expanded to include both the Grand Cafe in the Hyatt's atrium and Penn Quarter, the Hotel's new and unique space near the open lagoon. A limited number of tickets will be available and will sell quickly. The V.I.P. area will offer a more upscale menu with the finest array of liquors, beers, wines and champagnes and a ratio of one bartender per every 50 guests....plus an extra 1/2 hour of open bar (8pm - 1:30am)!! The VIP ticketholder will also enjoy multiple forms of entertainment in the party areas, as well as their own registration, will call and complimentary coat check.

DETAILS
You must be 21 or older to attend the event. Dress is formal, creative black tie, optional...kind of like MTV Music Awards. We expect it to be fun not stuffy! So...for guys - jacket and tie or tux, funky preferred & for girls- cocktail or formal dresses, with creativity encouraged!

Please keep in mind, in order to maximize the fun potential, the regular party ticket areas offer very limited seating. While there is some seating available in Grand Slam, the Comedy Room and some additional 'breakout rooms', there is not seating for every guest. There is, however, a much higher percentage of seating per guest in the VIP areas.

Feel free to browse around the website to get specific information on entertainment, food and bar menus, VIP information, hotel accommodations and ticket availability.

Remember, this event sells out early every year! Plus, the earlier you buy, the less expensive it will be!

INDEPENDENCE BALLROOM - BANDS ON THE MAIN STAGE - Set times subject to change

FLOUNDER'S MASH UPS...8:30pm - 10:30pm

Elliot in the Morning's very own Flounder has made a name for himself as a DJ by combining different songs to create "Mash Ups"...think Motley Crue meets Common, or Kiss meets G. Love. Definitely music you can groove to!

THIRD EYE BLIND...10:30pm - 11:45pm

Third Eye Blind sported a brighter sound than many of their late-'90s peers, taking as much influence from classic pop/rock traditions as the angst-ridden music that dominated the decade. The group scored its first hit in 1997, when the debut single "Semi-Charmed Life" cracked the Top 10. Third Eye Blind built upon that success throughout the following three years, releasing a number of singles (three of which cracked the Top 10) while touring with the likes of U2 and Oasis. After taking a break during the early 2000s, the band returned in 2009 with its fourth studio album, Ursa Major.

MIDNIGHT COUNTDOWN & BALLOON DROP 11:45pm - Midnight

Say goodbye to 2009 in style in the Hyatt's Independance Ballroom while DC101's Elliot in the Morning & the Class count-down to the New Year with DC's largest balloon drop

GONZO'S NOSE...12:30am - 2am

Formed in the summer of 1996 by four musicians from the College of William and Mary, Gonzo's Nose has carved a niche for themselves in the D.C. music scene by combining solid musicianship with a repertoire of covers from the 80's and 90's. They have a monster set list and will pick high energy songs that people can dance to, spanning three decades and a mess of different musical styles. They also continually add new music to their set (up to ten songs each month), often based on their fans' requests.

CONSTITUTION BALLROOM - CLUB '09

MEGAWATT DJ's
Year after year the most popular area to dance... We turn the constitution ballroom into a full on nightclub with more moving lights than a concert! DJ Johnny Bravo will play all your favorite dance and party music. You gotta get up to get down!

THE GRAND SLAM - DC IDOL!

KARAOKE

Located in the Hyatt's Sports Bar, the Grand Slam will be the place to gather, hang out, and participate in live, interactive karaoke. Back by popular demand, it's your turn on the mic! Just kick back, relax and enjoy the show... Sing your favorite songs or laugh at your friends! Also, with plenty of tv's you'll be able to watch the Peach Bowl and check out all the action from Times Square in NY.
