The unusual group Ruso will be playing The Elbo Room in Chicago at 9pm on Monday, Sept. 14. A fresh take on an old idea, the "one-man-band," Ruso consists of Coleman Zurkowski (just turning 18) singing, playing bass, and operating what he calls a "Man-Machine", adding drum patterns, sub-bass tones, and the occasional stabs of classic '80s synth sounds.

Abbott Smile bring the guitars back at 10 PM. Their catchy songs sound inspired by the Modern Lovers and Violent Femmes.

The bluesy jam-pop of The Post-Scripts (on tour) and emerging singer-songwriter Carlo Navarro round out the evening.

The night starts at 8 PM, September 14, at The Elbo Room, 2871 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60657.
