New Manchester Review returns for Christmas with another FREE ENTRY evening of hot new music courtesy of our favourite artists from the last 12 months. Expect the finest in northern pop and heavy soul, from the sharp mod-pop stylings of Cheap Cuts, plus We Are Willow and Noel Williams.

We Are Willow is the collaborative project begun by Chris Butler, the Manchester based artist who combines delicate acoustic guitars with beautiful melodic vocals, electronics and wonderfully refined vocal harmonies to create a stunning sound that is at times sparse and at others incredibly intense. This is the last show of the year for We Are Willow’s acclaimed ‘348 Miles’ EP.

Cheap Cuts are a pop trio from Warrington whose songs combine the distinctly nostalgic sound of 1960s soul with short, witty kitchen sink sagas set in modern, broken, bankrupt Britain. The band was formed when Gareth Roberts (vocals, guitar) and Joe Forshaw (bass, vocals) recruited local “face” Joe Bennett to play the drums. They have recently welcomed Chris Gallagher on keyboards for their live shows in 2012.

Abstract Groove DJs will be spinning an eclectic mix of vinyl-only tunes right into the night.
