This class is an advanced course and it is intended for students who have an intermediate background in Brazilian Portuguese, i.e., at least 100 hours of Portuguese instruction. This class emphasizes oral and written communication skills, and by the end of this program, the student will be a step away from conversational. This class will cover: grammar (pronouns; relative, coordinate and subordinate conjunctions); verb conjugation (review of indicative tenses; present subjunctive – regular and irregular – past subjunctive and conditional); vocabulary (phrasal verbs, idioms, idiomatic expressions), culture (use of written Portuguese in literature, newspapers and articles, all covering different aspects of Brazilian culture). Also, conversation structures will be used in the class. This class runs for 8 weeks, and meets once a week for 2 hours. The instructor for this class is a Brazilian from São Paulo, who has taught Portuguese in different capacities for over 6 years.
