The Las Cruces Museum of Art has added several studio digital photography classes to its roster complementing its newest facility, a state of the art digital imaging lab.

The digital lab is the result of an effort spearheaded by Photography Instructor Paul Schranz and Education Curator Tim Billman, with a significant amount of support from the City of Las Cruces and private donations. The multi-station computer lab also houses a 17 printer and film/slide scanner.

Students who want to gain expertise in Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS can choose from several workshop offerings. A class in Photo Enhancement and Correction is currently being offered, with a session beginning Nov. 15. Additional classes to be scheduled in 2007 include Image Manipulation in Photoshop, Image Restoration and Correcting Photographic Imperfections, Digital Photography Foundations and Practices, and a composition course for photographers. For class descriptions and registration information, visit the Museum website www.museums.las-cruces.org or call 541-2137.

Instructor Paul Schranz, who has been teaching digital photography for the Museum Studio for the past two years is Professor of Art Emeritus, Governors State University, IL, and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is a technical writer and contributing editor of Photo Techniques Magazine and a volunteer photography instructor in the Fresh Eyes program at the J. Paul
