This class is a beginning course and it is intended for students fluent in Spanish who have limited or no background in Brazilian Portuguese. This class emphasizes oral and written communication skills using Spanish as a reference, and by the end of this program, the student will have acquired basic conversation skills. This class will cover: pronunciation (comparing Portuguese and Spanish sounds); grammar (gender, subject, object, prepositions, and pronouns); verb conjugation (present, past, and future tenses – regular and irregular); vocabulary (numbers, date, time, occupations, nationalities, family, clothing and food). Also, conversation structures will be used in the class. THE INSTRUCTOR WILL BE SPEAKING PORTUGUESE DURING THE WHOLE SESSION. This class runs for 8 weeks, and meets once a week for 2 hours. The instructor for this class is a native Brazilian of Spanish ascendance, who has taught Portuguese and Spanish in different capacities for over 6 years.
