Opening: One Man Machine + Swiss Chriss

Like MGMT on a Ramen budget, Neon Indian mixes a gauzy combination of Buggles-style 1980s pop, video game soundtracks, and cheeseball elevator music in a lo-fi, ramshackle package. Still, retro and warped suits the project's simple arrangements, which, with sonic manipulation and Korg interjections, are as fun and offbeat as they are old-school in production. Neon Indian perfectly nails the essence of woozily nostalgic synth-pop.

Although often called the "African TV on the Radio", BLK JKS (pronounced Black Jacks) is more accurately a mixture of upbeat, progressive art-rock like Mars Volta with ambient, melodic rock like Sonic Youth and Radiohead, all filtered through South African musical tradition. As a Rolling Stone magazine "artists to watch in 2009" and a Fader magazine cover artist, aren't you at least a bit curious?
