217 E. Houston St. (corner Ave A & Houston)
New York City, New York 10002

Jim Avignon (Berlin/New York), cartoon painter, performance artist, and a postmodern storyteller. With his one-man-band NEOANGIN he sings charming electronics-gone-mad jump'n'singalongs about the nowheres and no ones in this world. He turns the stage into a beautiful neo-expressionist cartoon world. He's received praise from such luminaries as BBC legend John Peel.

"Tonearm is the stage name of Ilia Bis, a refugee from academia (he did graduate work in sound analysis and synthesis at the University of Chicago) who was born in Russia and grew up in Moscow. Tonearm mixes computer technology with rock-solid songwriting. There's a little bit of Syd Barrett, a little bit of John Lennon, and whole lot of heartrending loneliness in his work." -- The New Yorker
