As we strive to bring you the best examples of artistic expression, we simply did not expect to come across something like Stained Radiance. Joining for the first time last year, for one afternoon, master guitarist Nels Cline (Wilco) and brilliant painter Norton Wisdom created an amazing new performance style, which was caught on film by Aught Nugn. Now they take it on tour.

Here's what happens: while Wisdom creates interpretive forms and images on a backlit surface continually painting over his own work before it dries Cline's guitar and effects fill the room with an equally improvised sonic environment for the painting. And vice versa feeding off each other as they go. Confused? ¨Watch the video.

Cline explains the performance as "constantly reinventing" and says, "It's really about art. And about me trying to deal with Norton's work. The way he works. And so there's nothing else like it that I do."

Wisdom explains his idea of painting: I really believe that if you don't have the strength to paint over a good painting, you couldn't have painted a good painting anyhow.
