One of Britain’s most exciting bands will stop off at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt on Saturday 15 May to play songs from their third Album, Radio Silence.

Pianist Neil Cowley and his band, bassist Richard Sadler and drummer Evan Jenkins, have carved out a reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting live bands. Cowley’s music, a powerful examination of the sonic possibilities of the acoustic piano trio draws equally on classical, trance, rock and jazz, and led Mojo to hail the bands 2008’s Loud louder Stop as a ‘Modern Classic’, and list it in their ’50 Best Albums’ of that year.

“their most cohesive offering to date … dynamic … seismic… and delicately lyrical… EST on steroids with the attitude of Motorhead” (Record Collector)

Cowley’s inventiveness, wit and brash dynamism is again in full force. Described as music for the ‘heart and feet’, they perform tracks from Radio Silence, their new and most eloquent statement yet. Moving effortlessly between moments of heart-stopping beauty, rip-roaring rock riffs and Chaplinesque ditties, we’re reminded that for all his many influences, Cowley’s music is as quintessentially British as ‘Test Match Special’, warm beer or a bacon sarnie.

Neil Cowley is in high demand from other artists and has contributed a number of high profile projects including the platinum-selling 19, the debut recording from Adele, and in particular his poignantly expressive intro to the stand-out Hometown Glory is now legendary. More recently, Cowley has collaborated with the Stereophonics on their current album, Keep Calm and Carry On.
This is music born in London pubs, on stage at Glastonbury, in suburban side streets and the banter of the tour bus, with results that are as enthralling, heart-warming and gripping as the very best in contemporary music.
