With their particular brand of enthusiasm and energy, NDT2 have become firm favourites with British audiences.
The young dancers, none of them older than 23, fill the stage with extraordinary feats of virtuoso dancing, jumping higher and spinning faster than seems possible. These sassy dancers spread an infectious delight, and are guaranteed to entertain you with works by three established NDT choreographers.
The evening features the UK premiere of a brand new work by resident choreographers Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, commissioned by Dance Consortium, and a collage of works by Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin, who has also created work for companies such as Rambert Dance Company, Lyon Opera Ballet and his own Batsheva Dance Company.
“Their enthusiasm injects a lethal cocktail of verve, sexuality and charisma into every step they take ” THE SCOTSMAN
Jiří Kylián, former Artistic Director of NDT, is hailed around the world for his achievements in dance. In Sleepless he converts the stage into a place of illusion and fantasy, in an intriguing celebration of the human form. Chapeau, a present to Queen Beatrix (known for her collection of huge hats), is a piece for 12 dancers, exuberantly performed to songs by Prince.
