Nawal - Voice of the Comoros - www.nawali.com -- will be performing at Alwan for the Arts on Saturday June 23 at 9:00 pm.

You will not want to miss this performance:
“There are few singers I know that connect so deeply with their audiences on personal, spiritual and cross cultural grounds as Nawal,” said Thomas R. Simpson, AfroSolo Artistic Director. “She is truly an ambassador for the healing power of music to bring peace and reconciliation between cultures that so regularly misunderstand one another.”

She is touring in support of her new album Aman:
Aman (peace of the soul) is Nawal’s second full-length album. An acoustic roots-based fusion, Nawal’s unique sound combines influences from her native islands Comoros and far beyond. Her music is insightful, rebellious and compassionate, and steeped in the light of her Sufi ancestry. Each song its own universe – Aman is an invitation to dance, dream, meditate and soar over the Indian Ocean.
