The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge is free of charge and open to the public, and it offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compare personal fitness levels with those of the elite Navy SEALs. Anyone age 13 or older, male or female, can “dare to compare.”

The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge is an athletic competition with the principal goal of promoting physical fitness. It is identical to the Navy SEAL physical screening which is the test SEAL candidates must pass in order to be admitted to the rigorous training program. The Challenge consists of five fitness events: a 500-yard swim, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and 1.5 mile run. For example, the SEAL Standard is 42 push ups in two minutes. SEAL Competitive level (the highest) is 80 or more push ups in two minutes.

Chicago is the fifth stop of the national tour of The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge. The inaugural Challenge kicked off in Boston in June 2007. Since then, the Challenge has taken place in San Antonio, Los Angeles and Dearborn, MI.

Individuals are welcome as are groups such as husband-wife, parent-child, classmate pairings, members of a football team, etc. The group members stated that having someone there to provide encouragement helps to keep motivated during the demanding events.

The Navy invites spectators to attend to help cheer on and support all the competitors. In addition to watching the exciting activities, spectators will have the extraordinary opportunity to meet and talk with the elite Navy SEALS.
