Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park was the religious and social gathering area for the prehistoric Plum Bayou Culture. Without writing, the ceremonies that took place at this site are forever lost. While the Navajo art of sand painting was not practiced by the Plum Bayou Culture, it is ceremonial in nature and could be similar to ceremonies that took place here. Participants in this class will gain an appreciation of the art of sand paining by creating their own works of art with materials provided by the park. Families welcome.
