Natya Dance Company Presents Padma: The Evening Rose August 30, 2010

Take a journey of the senses and spirit as 25 dancers from the Natya Dance Theatre Company and School unfold the magic of the bramhakamal. This rare lotus, a gift from the gods and the only kind of lotus with a pleasant fragrance, opens only once, in the middle of the night, then perishes. This evening of original work explores the ways in which our consciousness is awake even as we sleep, always thinking and developing. Set to original music composed by the Natya Dance Theatre orchestra and also to Chopin’s Scherzo, Padma will transport you across time and consciousness and will offer a glimpse of The Flowering Tree, which will have its world premiere at the Harris Theater in March 2011!
