Shoot side-by-side with legendary National Geographic photographer and author of the new book RARE: Portraits of America's Endangered Species, Joel Sartore, in an intensive photography workshop at Ryerson Woods. An engaging day of lectures, critiques and hands-on outdoor field assignments, this workshop is about tackling the “big three” found in all successful nature photographs: good light, deliberate background and compelling story. Sartore will cover fields tips, what kind of gear to bring, special digital considerations in outdoor light, the subtle use of flash, how to travel so you and your equipment stay intact and how to use your photographs for conservation. Photographers of all skill levels will learn how to use just about any camera to take a great picture. Using the natural vibrancy of Ryerson Woods in autumn as a backdrop, participants will practice “seeing well” and expanding their photographic technique. Lunch included.
