Aiming at economic efficiency and global competitiveness, the reports of Second National Commission on Labour prescribes codification of labour laws broadly encompassing industrial relations, social security, wages, safety and health, welfare and other measures, advocating strongly for repeal of laws governing specific industries. However, unmindful of the lofty objective of accomplishing neo economic aspirations, no recommendation has been made to address the legislative impediments being encountered by knowledge based industries namely IT, ITES, & BPO. Therefore to have operational flexibility, it is imperative to remove restrictive labour legislations which impact adversely the global ambition of knowledge based industries and to come out with an exclusive enactment for Knowledge Based Establishments, which needs to be submitted to the Government.
