The Association of Fundraising Professionals - Washington Chapter has chosen six outstanding philanthropists to honor at its 21st anniversary National Philanthropy Day luncheon.

More than 1,000 donors, volunteers, leaders and other supporters of non-profit organizations are expected to attend this event - one of the largest National Philanthropy Day celebrations in the nation.

National Philanthropy Day honors and supports the efforts and passions of philanthropic leaders and the organizations they serve. Six individuals and organizations will be recognized for their philanthropic work, for investing their passion, time, talents, and financial support to better their community.

The 2009 honorees are:

Wells Fargo - Outstanding Corporation
St. Luke's Foundation: - Outstanding Foundation
The Women's Funding Alliance - Outstanding Organization
Nancy Skinner Nordhoff - Outstanding Philanthropist
The Lung Tsuchiya Family - Outstanding Family
Mina Saudagaran - Outstanding Youth

"Anyone can give when times are flush. But these six awardees have given even with the economy the way it is. They are truly inspirational and for me they define what it is to be a philanthropist," said fundraising consultant Andrea John-Smith, who is president of AFP Washington.

$65 before Oct. 23; $75 afterwards.
