The University of Michigan Men's Rowing team and the Ann Arbor Rowing Club will offer free rowing instruction on May 19 at Bandemer Park in Ann Arbor. Learn more about this non-impact, full-body, cardiovascular-plus-strength-workout sport in a laid back atmosphere. Great for non-athletes and athletic-types alike.

You'll learn the basics of an efficient rowing stroke on the ergometer (aka "rowing machine"). Then you're sent out in the AARC's ultra stable training barge for some on-water practice. Finally, you take a seat, along with experienced rowers, in an eight-person shell, where the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

If you would like to pre-register email [email protected]. No preregistration required.

If you're interested in giving it a try but can't make Saturday's free sessions, consider one of the AARC's Quick Catch classes - which is the same program offered on select summer weekends for $35.

More information and directions are on AARC's website.
