National Handloom Exhibition March 4, 2009

Co Optex, Egmore is organising National Handloom Exhibition, weavers from different parts of the country will be showcasing their creations. A wide range of handloom dress materials and products would be on display at the 17-day exhibition, which is being sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms. Co-optex would be exhibiting over 700 cotton saris, 560 silk saris and 280 home furnishings. Live workshops and demonstrations on weaving techniques, sari painting and other nuances of fabricating handloom materials will be conducted as part of the fair. Cultural programmes such as dance, theatre, music, folk arts and fashion show will be held in the evenings. Embroidery, essay writing and fashion designing competitions would also be a part of the exhibition. For details contact 28193592.
