Held for the 26th year running, National Family Celebrations takes on a fresh perspective with this year’s theme —Connecting Youths with their Family!

To encourage Singaporeans to refocus their priorities and set aside time for their family, there will be a great variety of activities under the National Family Celebrations 2011 calendar - which will surely excite the young, the old, and everyone in between!

National Family Celebrations (NFC) Opening Event: Switch ‘n’ Click Show with The Muttons

Guest of Honour: Major General Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for MCYS

Through this youth-driven family forum, youths and parents will have the opportunity to interact and hear from celebrity parents and corporate leaders, who will share their views and stories about their own families.
Youths and parents can walk with a deeper appreciation of each other’s expectations and perspectives, and a greater understanding of the roles that everyone can play to strengthen family bonds.
Participants can look forward to an exciting line-up of speakers, such as celebrity couple Daniel Ong and Jaime Teo, comedian Suhaimi Yusof, head of youth workgroup for NFC 2011, Soh Yida, Excellent Youth Award recipient Lina Chong, alongside co-chairs of the NFC 2011 Organising Committee, Mr Lim Soon Hock and Mrs Josephine Teo.

Eat With Your Family Day – A Ritual from the Heart
* in conjunction with National Family Celebrations 2011

The tagline this year “A Ritual from the Heart” emphasises that EWYFD is not only about food and eating but about relationship building and enjoying relationship, and that ‘a family that eats together stays together’.

This initiative calls on employers and corporate leaders to take the lead in promoting strong family ties by encouraging their employees to leave work at 5pm on the last Friday on school term in May to have dinner with their family.
