National Digital Science Library (NSDL) Annual Meeting: Content Cook-off: Tools in Action! November 5, 2007

Legislators, parents, teachers and administrators seem to agree that the use of technology and digital resources in K-16 classrooms is one way to improve teaching and learning (Project Tomorrow/NetDay Speak Up 2006 Reports ).

Efficient tools help busy instructors do a better job of using digital resources while building communities of like-minded educational professionals. Many organizations and companies have identified providing these tools as "the right thing to do." In this panel presentation three developers of educational content tools—Content Clips , Instructional Architect , Yahoo! For Teachers & the Gobbler® , and Sophie —will give brief product introductions followed by three demonstrations of how to create content using NSDL resources "live on stage."

Demonstrations will focus on the topic Organisms and their Environments for elementary through college level students and will include discussions of processes, as well as insights into selection and organization while using a particular tool. Presentations will be followed by a question and answer session to give attendees an in-depth "look under the hood" of how learning objects are created with online tools.
