Redwood's new body of paintings shifts attention from architecture and construction materials that have been the focus of his work in the past. With the same skilled hand he has been developing for the last several years, Redwood's concerns have turned from the inanimate to the animate. More specifically: portraiture is a theme of Redwood's latest work--portraiture that still is filtered through Redwood's specific painting style and ethos. Human faces and bodies now inhabit the earthy and rich landscapes that heretofore populated his industrial landscapes. In an ever-tightening of his specific painting style Redwood enters into the lively discourse of painting the human form.
