Since the roots of hip hop movement in the early 80’s, through to the east/west coast ‘gangsta’ wars of the late 90’s, for most it would have been hard to imagine that in 2013, Hip-Hop would find itelf at the vanguard of pushing new boundaries in popular culture. Musically, socially, sexually and aesthetically, absolutely no-one sums that up better than Mykki Blanco, an artist we’ve been hoping to bring here for a loonnnng time.

‘Cute and Criminally Insane’, Blanco has been teaming up with some of electronics finest musicians and producers in Brenmar, Gatekeeper and Sinden for her first full length EP. Summed up by Pitchfork as “a grab-bag of experimentation tailored to today's blurry rap landscape and transgression is only part of the mix.” Check out stand out track Wavvy here.

Live, the show is out of the park, full of energy, high on surprises, exemplified in where you’ll find Mykki over the summer, with shows at Sonar, ATP and a supporting tour alongside Major Lazer. Lets get Kingpinning

For this event we will be teaming up with a range of the most exciting Hip-hop promoters and party folk in Manchester to curate the support acts together. Bringing together the minds and talents behind the liverpool-new york upstarts Chew Disco , and Greg Thorpe, Resident at Manchester ‘Best Club’ Off the Hook.
