Join us on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30 @ 7:30 PM AT THE HUNTINGTON CINEMA ARTS CENTRE; film maker Stephan Forbes will intorduce his new documentary - Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story, a comprehensive look at Lee Atwater which follows his rambunctious rise from the South to the Chairman of the GOP. The mentor of Karl Rove and George W. Bush, Atwater played a crucial role in the elections of Ronald Reagan and George H W Bush. He is the author of the Republican Party's playbook, which is currently being used by the McCain campaign. This documentary, with eye-opening interviews with Atwater's closest friends and enemies, examines his pivotal role in remaking the Republican Party. Offending Democrats with his ruthless style (the 1988 Willie Horton controversy, for example) Atwater, a political assassin dubbed "The Most Evil Man in America," expertly manipulated the media with his unapologetic vision of ‘politics as war’. The current Republican campaign is being played out using Atwater’s dirty tricks by Steven Schmidt who guided W’s campaigns.

Director Stephan Forbes will introduce the film in person and discuss the Machiavellian godfather of today's negative political campaign. A COMPLIMENTARY RECEPTION IN THE SKY ROOM WILL FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MOVIE.
