Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park, Music Without Borders expands this year to eight double-bill concerts June 3 through July 22. In its fifth year, the wildy popular free international music series features traditional folk and pop artists from around the globe.

The series kicks off with the dynamic afrobeat and funk music of Antibalas, the Brooklyn-based collective that has grooved on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and festivals in over 35 counties. They are preceded by the pop, dance, and indie sounds of The Very Best featuring Malawian Esau Mwamwaya singing in Chichewa, Swahili, Portuguese, and English.

For more information about these artists, visit:

Antibalas replaces the Balkan Beat Box, originally scheduled to appear, but unfortunately is unable to tour.

Music Without Borders is supported by grants from the Governor's International Arts Exchange Program of the Illinois Arts Council and The Chicago Community Trust.

The complete Music Without Borders series consists of:

Thursday, June 10 at 6:30pm - Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba

Thursday, June 17 at 6:30pm - Dandana: A Celebration of Muslim Voices ...
