"Sounds Like America!"
Come hear the renowned artists of the Music of the Spheres Society, under the direction of Stephanie Chase, perform great music by American composers of the 20th century.

The program? John Harbison's dreamlike homage to Schubert - "November 19, 1828" - followed by Leonard Bernstein's brilliant "Sonata for clarinet and piano," performed by the incomparable Jon Manasse. Then comes George Gershwin's lush "Lullaby for String Quartet" and - last but not least - Amy Beach's gorgeous Piano Quintet.
Tickets are $30 and $15 (students and seniors), at door starting at 7:15 p.m.

The concert will be followed by a fascinating discussion and demonstration on "The Rhythmic Brain" by Eric Barnhill, who is the founder of "Cognitive Eurythmics" - a therapeutic program devised to help developmentally disabled children through the rhythms of music.

Performing artists for this concert are Stephanie Chase and Harumi Rhodes, violin; Hsin-Yun Huang, viola; Darrett Adkins, cello; Jon Manasse, clarinet; and Todd Crow, piano.

Q. What did the New York Times write about the Music of the Spheres Society?
A. "These players are outstanding. They should be playing....everywhere."
