Sun, April 4, Art Exhibit from 1PM - 2PM; Concert from 2PM - 3:15PM

The Oshman Family JCC presents an afternoon of art and song in honor of Yom Ha'shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. "Music, Art & Hope" is an original art exhibition of post-war oil paintings, etchings and drawings by ten local Holocaust survivors. At the public reception, several of the artists will discuss their powerful works. Holocaust-themed artwork and essays from local 7th and 8th grade students will also be displayed.

The opening art reception will be followed by a live performance of music that was originally composed and performed by Jews living in the ghettos and concentration camps during the Holocaust. This music provides both personal and historical testimonies to people's lives during those times and embodies creativity and hope at a time of complete despair. Dr. Nurit Jugend and concert pianist Edna Koren will perform.

The art exhibit will run April 4 - April 28 in room E104 on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life in Palo Alto. To provide a deeper exploration of this exhibit, the OFJCC will also offer a three-part workshop led by Dr. Jugend on April 8, 15 and 22. For more information, please visit www.paloaltojcc.org/arts.
