In January, Mumiy Troll starts its most unusual tour on North America.

An international concert agency named The Agency Group for the first time in its history decided to organize a Russian band’s tour. The Agency Group is a leading promoting agency that deals with tour for both independent bands playing alternative and hard rock (Motorhead, Lacuna Coil, Cannibal Corpse), world stars (Vanessa Mae, Keanu) as well as newest heroes (Hives, Paramore). The representatives of the Agency are sure that currently the level of interest to international rock-stage is exceptionally high. Christian Bernhart, one of the company co-owners, says that after visiting a Mumiy Troll’s concert he “as if I discovered anew the world of real rock-and-roll”, and believes that “Russian language gives a magical meaning to the performance, and it allows to forecast that Ilya Lagutenko and Co’s music has all the chances to travel between continents and be independent of the economy crisis”.

The band will cross the USA from East to West: open the tour in Washington and finish it on the Pacific Coast in Portland, Oregon. Mumiy Troll will perform in real American rock-clubs, often in places quite far from New York’s Brighton-Beach or West Hollywood, where they traditionally love and await Russian performers. Ilya Lagutenko says that he is very excited: “For us, it’s like traveling “back to the future” – we are going to appear before audience that doesn’t know us and doesn’t understand the words of our songs. Of course, we hope that Russian admirers of Mumiy Troll living in America will support the band, but I really don’t know if any our fellow countrymen could find themselves in Colorado, Utah or Ohio: the names sound like they come from books about Indians. So, serious adventures lay ahead of us.”

The tour will conclude with a release of a special album: an American company SYNDICATE, together with Russian one, IKRA.TV, is preparing the first official Mumiy Troll’s release abroad. The disk will be named Comrade Ambassador and it will be based on the two recent albums of the band: AMBA and “8”. Actually, Comrade Ambassador is a play on words with the names of the two albums. The main feature of the release is that all the songs will be in Russian only. Ilya Lagutenko says: “I think that after the Americans elected their first black President, their next step towards better understanding of the world could be learning songs in Russian! This idea came to me after an employee of the American Embassy in Moscow, who issued a visa for me, said the Mumiy Troll’s songs, in particularly “S Novim Godom, Kroshka!” (Happy New Year, Baby!), helped him learn Russian language. So, that’s the kind of New Year we will have!”

After American concerts, the band will go on a tour on selected Baltic cities, then visit Siberia and Zabaikal regions; perform in St. Petersburg on the 28th of February, and in summer it will take part in Russian and international music festivals.
