Mu Daiko at the Ritz November 9, 2007

Nationally-recognized Japanese taiko drum ensemble Mu Daiko stretches its artistic canvas in this new mainstage performance, revisiting classic compositions and introducing new ones in a dazzling tapestry of sound a movement. The first weekend (Nov 9 - 11, tickets $18 - $22) highlights original compositions by Mu Daiko members, along with a new collaboration with Korean drummer Sangho Kim. The second weekend (Nov 16 - 18, tickets $22 - $26), Mu Daiko welcomes guest artists TAIKOPROJECT, an LA-based group that puts a hip, young twist on the taiko tradition. Best known for their appearance in a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse television spot, their unique performance style blends traditional taiko with contemporary music, hip-hop dance, and video.

Mu Daiko will perform a special family concert on Saturday, Nov 10 at 2 pm. This event will feature selections from Mu Daiko at the Ritz, followed by an opportunity for kids to get on stage and play the drums. Tickets $8 - $12.
