'Mrs. Warren's Profession' is George Bernard Shaw's 1893 drama. Vivie Warren is a young woman who prides herself on her sensibility and independence. When she is reunited with her mother, she discovers that Mrs. Warren has achieved her wealth through prostitution and still operates a chain of brothels. Her mother defends her actions by pointing out that society oppresses virtue, yet rewards vice.
