The Master of Public Affairs (MPA) for mid-career professionals is
Humphrey's newest degree program (established in 1999) and can be
completed in one calendar year of full-time enrollment. The core
curriculum emphasizes leadership and policymaking theory and practice,
and students design their own area of concentration around their career
interests. The MPA prepares students to assume leadership positions,
make career changes, and enhance current work skills.
Are you ready to go back to school?

Designed for mid-career professionals with the equivalent of 10 or more
years of professional experience, the MPA recognizes your work and life
experience. The program faculty and staff also understand students'
concerns about going back to school when they already are on a career
track or after many years away from academic pursuits. We-and your
fellow students- will help you every step of the way. Yes, returning to
school and balancing other commitments is challenging. But if career
advancement, change and rejuvenation, or deepening your capacity to
bring effective solutions to public problems is your goal, then
Humphrey Institute is the right choice. And the MPA is the right
program.
Can you find the time?
Yes you can.
The
MPA is a 30-credit degree program. Because it's designed for mid-career
professionals, the framework is flexible and efficient. Tailor your
program to your career and life choices.

Classes are offered during the day, evening, and over the summer.

It's possible to earn the MPA in just one year of full-time study or
you can attend part-time while you continue to work.
It's adaptable to your personal requirements (family, work, travel, etc.).
What
you learn in the classroom is "hands-on" - you can apply theory to
practice in your organization while you are studying.

How will earning an MPA from the Humphrey Institute help your career?

The program is highly regarded by students, employers, community
leaders, and policymakers. Faculty and fellows at the Humphrey
Institute come from diverse fields of intellectual and public life.
They are well connected in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
The 2001 "Best Graduate Schools" issue of U.S. News & World Report
ranked the Humphrey Institute among the top public affairs schools at
public universities. The same publication ranked our nonprofit
management program third in the nation among all such programs.
What do MPA graduates do?
This
mid-career program has proven effective in helping students change
careers and move to the next level in their current careers. Humphrey
Institute MPA alumni currently work locally, nationally, and
