West End Movie-Making Class presents...

Premiere Gala
March 21, 2009
4 p.m.
West End Community Center
903 English Road
High Point, NC 27262

West End's Movie-Making Class is a diverse group of seven people -- low-income, disabled, young, not-so-young, unemployed and people working for government agencies. We've been meeting every Saturday since mid-January, learning to tell stories and make movies.
The Gala Premiere will be a showing of each student's work from the class, grass-roots video production.
Low-tech technology, free and low-cost software, in a community center computer lab -- this is video production on a budget to match the times.
Other attractions:
"The Making of a Movie Class," filmed during the class by Jean-Francois Llorens, High Point University French professor.
A reading by award-winning poet Carole Weatherford, author of The Sound that Jazz Makes, Becoming Billie Holliday, and Before John Was a Jazz Giant: A Song of John
Coltrane.
"Celebrate What's Right with the World," generously lent to us by the High Point YWCA.
And a few surprises!
Refreshments will be served.

Organized by West End Ministries, the City of HP & Worlds Touch
West End Ministries has generously donated its computer lab and the fellowship hall for this class. The City of High Point supported the class with a Community Development Grant. Worlds Touch provided the curriculum, the volunteer recruitment and the program management.
