Movement For Change: It’s Time To Soar benefiting the Walking with Anthony Foundation November 2, 2012

Walking With Anthony, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries (SCI), will be hosting its first annual South Florida “Movement for Change: It’s Time to Soar” red carpet fundraising event to support SCI victims and honor individuals who are making a significant difference to those affected with spinal cord injuries. Walking With Anthony is inspired by Anthony Purcell, who was paralyzed after a diving accident while visiting Miami to attend the Super Bowl in 2010, but can now stand with the help of a walker.

Featuring a fabulous evening of dining, dancing, live entertainment and silent/live auctions, “Movement For Change: It’s Time to Soar” will honor Dr. Allan Levi, Chief of Neurospine Service and Fellowship Director at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami - who was Anthony’s surgeon - for his on-going efforts and dedication to helping and healing individuals with spinal cord injuries. Walking With Anthony will also present financial grants to two local Fort Lauderdale heroes - Nick Williams and Chris Hickox - to attend the Project Walk Spinal Cord Injury Rehab in Carlsbad, CA. for treatment. EXTRA Special Correspondent and Y-100's own Michael Yo from "The Yo Show” will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and musical guest FUSION will keep the energy flowing throughout the night. The evening will also feature private jet tours and an onsite raffle for a helicopter ride over Miami that night. Event sponsors include Global Cash Card, SmartWater, and ONEHOPE Wines.

TICKETS are $200.00 per person, $3500 for reserved seating for 10 including bottle service and a butler. 100% of donations will benefit those who desperately need support on their way to recovery. Sponsorships and Underwriting opportunities are also available.

With approximately 12,000 people falling victim to SCI each year, it is Walking With Anthony’s hope to increase SCI research and provide financial assistance to SCI victims. “Having seen the effects of spinal cord injury first-hand, I know how much this research and potential results would mean to the approximately 1.5 million people in the United States who are confined to a wheelchair,” said Walking With Anthony President and Founder Micki Purcell. “We want to raise the money needed for this research to move forward at a faster pace so that people can start taking advantage of its findings.”
