Forget breakfast in bed for mom this year SF Camerawork has a much more creative and memorable way for families to celebrate Mothers Day during its extremely popular, annual Portrait Party, held on Mothers Day weekend, May 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Nine nationally-recognized fine art photographers will help San Franciscos only nonprofit gallery and education center dedicated to contemporary photography raise needed funds by creating hip, one-of-a-kind, custom portraits of those fast-acting Bay Area families that sign up first. This years photographers include Jay Blakesberg, Lori Eanes, Jessamyn Lovell, Kathrin Miller, Michael Rauner, Mark Richards, Tracy Storer, Audrey Shehyn Vernick and Victoria Yee. Many of the photographers works have been collected by museums, some have published books of their photographic work, and others are known for their celebrity portraiture like Jay Blakesberg, who has taken photographs of famous musicians from Emmy Lou Harris to B.B. King. Artist Tracy Storer uses a unique oversized 20 x 24" Polaroid camera for his portraiture, and many of the photographers create unusual studio settings for the portraits. Families receive a signed 8x10 photographic print (20 x 24" in the case of Tracy Storers Polaroid images), and additional prints can be ordered.
