Monster Road (Film Screening) April 26, 2009

Working in a vein similar to the disturbing and fantastical clay animation of Natalie Djurberg (but with a cult outsider-artist vibe closer to Henry Darger), Seattle's own Bruce Bickford became the subject of a Slamdance-prize-winning 2004 documentary, Monster Road. Brett Ingram's film offers a portrait of an animator whose withdrawal from public view--following early notoriety as a collaborator on Frank Zappa's film projects--has perhaps allowed his wild, weird visions to flourish unchecked. Bruce Bickford will attend this screening.
