Performed in Mongolian with English supertitles.

Co-produced with Festival d’Automne à Paris with the support of Guy de Wouters.

Made possible in part by the Trust for Mutual Understanding.

Nine musicians and storytellers from Inner Mongolia offer a rare glimpse into the art of their remote, fascinating nomadic culture. The first program is a recitation by a professional bard, Burenbayar, of the 13th century epic poem of the life of Genghis Khan and the rise of his extraordinary empire. The second program features Mongolian music performed on traditional instruments and indigenous dance rarely seen outside of family reunions in Mongolia.
