Mondays in the Mansion: Calligraphy January 18, 2010

In this two-hour session geared towards beginners, participants will be both watching and writing the Foundational Hand, a modern adaptation of a beautiful late 10th-century book hand. Calligrapher Ann Pope will demonstrate the letter shapes, using a large broadedge nib, concentrating on the structure, balance and weight of each letter. Demonstration and one-on-one assistance will be mixed with instruction and examples of historical and contemporary calligraphy.
