Mojácar Flamenco was born in a Caravanserai turned art gallery near the village of Mojácar in Southern Spain when guitarist Stephen Dick and dancer Katerina Tomás were asked to present an evening of music and dance. Since then, Stephen and Katerina have taken their special blend of music and dance, Flamenco and Latin Jazz to venues across North America and Spain. They’ve toured the U.S. and Canada as the opening act for a rock group, performed with Gypsies in the caves of Granada, and concertized across the west.

Along the way, they’ve won numerous honors and awards, including eight grants from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and two L.A. Treasures Awards from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission in recognition of their work as flamenco artists, scholars and instructors. They were the only American flamenco artists to win a prize in the Sur Jerez competition in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where they also appeared on Spanish television, and their music has been featured on NPRs Morning Edition. They’ve recorded three studio recordings, two instructional albums, and an award winning concert DVD based on the poetry and music of Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla.

Based in the San Gabriel Valley, Mojácar Flamenco performs regularly at Coffee Gallery Backstage, and considers it their home venue. A Mojácar show at CGB is always an exciting evening of virtuoso guitar music, exciting dance, and beautiful singing.

Join Mojácar Flamenco during the Thanksgiving weekend on November 26th for a very special evening of passion, power and grace.
