Moe’s Books in Berkeley has announcement that the Wednesday, August 17 cookbook discussion series, beginning at 7:30 p.m., will focus on selling and/or evaluating the worth of a personal cookbook collection.

The special guests for this event will be Ken Eastman and John Wong and the public is encouraged to bring in rare or unusual cookbooks for a free appraisal.

Eastman has worked at Moe's Books for more than twenty years, most recently as the buyer and appraiser of rare books. A UC Berkeley and Stanford graduate school veteran, he was also drawn to the culinary arts and has worked at Oliveto Restaurant and as a private caterer. Wong is a professional bookseller who has spent his entire career at Moe’s. A native of China, he grew up in the Bay Area, attended UC Berkeley and has a keen sense of the art of the buy with respect to insuring fair value to all parties involved.

The Moe’s Books discussion series, moderated by Stanislaw Sobolewski, a Moe’s cookbook buyer for the last decade, is ongoing and include guest speakers, featured books, and food samplings. The series is free of charge and open to the public.

Open since 1959, Moe’s is the Bay Area’s foremost independent bookstore with over 200,000 titles for sale, 3,241of which are cookbooks.
