Important Note: Module 3 is a total of 7 hours in length. This offering will be split into two halves. In order to receive attendance certificates, participants must attend both of the following sessions:
First half: 5/12/09, 1 pm - 4:30 pm
Second half: 6/9/09, 1 pm - 4:30 pm

When you register for the 5/12/09 session, you will be automatically registered for the 6/9/09 session as well.

Course
Description: This full-day workshop is designed for counselors, clinical
supervisors, and other clinical staff who provide counseling or therapy
services. The skills building workshop will review stages of change,
Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and relapse prevention
strategies for treating tobacco dependence. Participants will also learn
tobacco awareness engagement topics and activities, and will practice through
role-play, how to facilitate psychoeducational tobacco awareness groups.

prerequisite:
Module 1-The Foundation.

Target
Population: Administrators, directors, clinical supervisors,
counselors, prevention professionals, nurses, physicians, and support staff
from chemical dependence service providers.

OASAS
Credit: 7 hours for initial credentialing-CASAC and CPP; 7 hours for renewal-CASAC, CPP, CPS. CASAC-Section 2.

Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse operates the Central New York
Regional Technical
Assistance and Training Center
for the Tobacco-Free Addiction Services Project.
This project will help agencies meet the staff training requirement in the tobacco-free regulation.
BRiDGES is available to provide workshops at agencies within the 16-county OASAS Central Region upon request. Training is available through the one-hour, half-, and full-day sessions scheduled throughout CNY.
BRiDGES will be available through December 2009 to answer any questions, discuss challenges, or to help you develop written policies and practices. Contact us at any time.
