MLK Day Service Challenge January 18, 2009

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus invites you to participate in the first ever MLK Jr. Day Service Challenge! A one day event that celebrates the teachings of MLK Jr. through service to the community. This day will bring together a large number of volunteers to tackle 3 big projects in service to:

1) Youth
2) Homeless & Under Housed
3) Elderly

This day of service will require that volunteers work together, problem solve, and get creative in order to complete the service challenges by the end of the day! The community will give you a challenge, it is up to you to make it happen!

The day will begin with a volunteer check in at the Jefferson Davis Campus cafeteria. Volunteers will be divided into groups based on their interests. A group leader will give each group a challenge for the day. Lunch will be provided at the service sites. When the time is up we will all regroup at the Jefferson Davis Campus to share our stories and accomplishments from the day, enjoy light refreshments, and maybe win a door prize!

This year we challenge you to make your MLK Jr. Holiday a day on, not a day off!
We challenge you to work hard, meet new friends, and make a difference!
