MISSION AGAINST TERROR
Bernie Dwyer and Roberto Ruiz Rebo
Cuba/Ireland, 2004, 50 mins
CITY SWIMMERS
Margaret Dickinson
GB, 2006, 54 mins
Two films about two very different but equally powerful campaigns. Mission Against Terror tells the fight, in Cuba and internationally, for justice for the 'Miami Five', arrested and imprisoned eight years ago in the nited States for infiltrating terrorist plots against Cuba. City Swimmers is a celebration of open water swimming and a record of a campaign, showing why people want to swim every day – even in the depths of winter - in the ponds of Hampstead Heath. But it also looks beyond London to show the pleasures of other swimming places and how to keep them open.
* Discussion led by Fr Geoff Bottoms, Executive member of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and National Co-ordinator of the Miami Five Campaign Working Group, Margaret Dickinson and Jane Shallice, Chair of the Kenwood Ladies Pond Association.
Total length of films is 104mins followed by discussion scheduled for a further 60mins.
