Early music group MIRA, directed by Debbie Hunter presents magical songs of spring from Renaissance England, as well as works from the 16th and 17th century that are connected with the theme of rebirth, creativity and divine inspiration...more explanation through the program notes. In addition the group will perform Benjamin Britten's "Hymn to St. Cecilia", with text by W.H. Auden - a poem expressing images of Cecilia, the patron saint of music, and through poetic exploration and commentary on the theme of inspiration and music. MIRA, an 18 voice ensemble will augment their musical offerings with a period dance and with instruments, including recorders, viola da gamba and harp. The concert is appropriate for all ages, and a $10.00 donation is requested. For information call 434-977-5784.
