Minneapolis, Minnesota

For the fifth year, Minneapolis MOSAIC will celebrate the city’s diversity with more than 40 free arts and cultural performances and displays in downtown Minneapolis.

The opening night, Many Worlds. One Night. invites the public to enjoy an arts-packed evening, featuring a variety of performances along Hennepin Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets. Past performances have included Japanese and Native American drumming; Brazilian, Hmong and Middle Eastern Dance; Southern Gospel; South American theatre; and multi-cultural spoken-word performances.

Along with performances at the Pantages and Hennepin Stages Theatres, adults and children can also enjoy the summer night at an outdoor stage, cultural food vendors and interactive arts activities along Hennepin Avenue, which will be blocked off to traffic.

Each year MOSAIC commissions a lasting artistic work, which celebrates the diversity of the city and serves as a commemorative representation of the project. This year the commissioned work will feature theater, premiering at the June 9th celebration.
Co-chairs for the 2007 event are Tony Tolliver, Carlson Companies, and Faye Price, Pillsbury House Theatre.

The Minneapolis MOSAIC celebration continues city-wide throughout the summer. A guide to all the Minneapolis MOSAIC events will be available in May online at www.minneapolismosaic.com.

MOSAIC is presented by the City of Minneapolis and funded by private sponsors, not tax payers. For more information go to www.minneapolismosaic.com or call the Minneapolis MOSAIC hotline at 612-673-3379.
