Miniature Tigers' debut album "Tell it to the Volcano" runs the lyrical gamut, taking inspiration from and referencing TV's Lost (which rates a Dharma Initiative sticker on Brand's acoustic) as easily as it probes the joy and heartbreak of Charlie's own life, while managing not to take itself too seriously. Charlie and Rick are joined in their live incarnation by a rotating cast of friends and collaborators for performances that seem to give equal time to playing songs and intra-band joking. They aim for a controlled chaos aesthetic that eschews "auto-pilot" at all costs.

Gleaning might from raucous mid-western teenage garage bands of the 1960s, the Chess Records soul/blues roster, and a motley catalog of modern influences, the The Blackberry Belles revel in passionate, primordial rock & roll. This trio of guitar/vocals, drums, and piano/organ straddles old and new, conjuring woeful tales of love lost, found, and discarded - mingling simple but deft melodies with viscous riffs, grinding organ grit, galvanic bass, and a throbbing backbeat. Simply put, The Blackberry Belles play soul music... and they have come to raise a commotion.
