About the Shows

FLAWED GENIUS by Barnaby King & Sue Morrison
Catch the hit comedy performance, FLAWED GENIUS, in Portland this May.
Barnaby King has been described as "Hugh Grant coming down off a bad
mushroom high". FLAWED GENIUS, created with Canadian clown guru Sue
Morrison, combines Vaudeville showmanship, absurd Chaplin-esque
clowning, with a sardonic humour of a distinctly British flavour. In
his uniquely live performances, Barnaby entertains, lampoons, disturbs,
challenges and provokes his audiences.

SUN-CLOTHED WOMAN by Carla Damaris Grant
The first place I saw the Sun-Clothed Woman was upon the wall in my
parents' studio. My father was a prophecy teacher. He illustrated the
book of Revelation using 6 ft. pieces of butcher paper and colored
chalk. As a child I would stare for hours at the life sized drawings.
My favorite was the "... woman clothed with the sun, and the moon
under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be
delivered."
This four dimensional illustration uses songs of the past,
dreams of the future and a #8 wrench to address an age-old fascination:
the end of the world.

Glory Be by Molly Jaeger
What price do we pay for true love? What do we lose when we commit?
And is
there such a thing as true love anyway? Inspired by such questions,
Glory Be unfolds
in a seductive fantasy world of undying romance where unknown
possibility is bordered only by the imagination. Molly Jaeger travels
into the tell-tale archives of romance and relationship to console the
bitter and goad the smitten in her performance quest. Storytelling,
butoh, and wistful romantic melodies in the style of Gershwin coalesce
to draw us into a compelling and playful exploration of modern love and
its surprising connection to our final departure.
