The winter months can be a good time for introspection and going more deeply within. A practice that can effectively nurture this kind of awareness is mindfulness. Mindfulness means being present in the moment with a non-judgmental awareness that sees life with clarity and an acceptance of present-moment reality. Being mindful allows us to be alert, calm and spacious. We will include sitting, standing and walking meditation as part of our day and place emphasis on how to bring this practice into t he context of our daily lives. Recommended Text is “Mindfulness in Plain English” by Bhante Gunaratana. If you wish, bring a bag lunch and practice mindfulness of eating. Anyone wanting to sit on the floor should bring a folded blanket and cushion. Chairs are provided.
