Mikhail Mordvinov, a Moscow native, is teaching as assistant professor at the Gnessin Academy of Music in Russia. He was awarded a number of scholarships during his schooling, including the President of Russia's (1996-98), the G. Neuhaus by the Rostropovich Fund (1997), and that of the German Academic Exchange Service (2000-01). He began performing at an early age, with appearances in Moscow and smaller cities nearby. He won first prize, at the 12th Schumann Competition in Zwickau (1996) and the 6th Schubert Competition in Dortmund (1997).

In 1998 Mordvinov recorded his first solo CD, featuring works by Schubert and Rachmaninoff. He is currently making some 50 appearances a year in recitals, orchestral concerts and chamber music. In 2006 he received a fourth prize in Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition, and was named a winner of the Andorra International Piano Competition in Spain, one of the oldest and most respected competitions in Europe.
