The Midwest Independent Film Festival is a monthly film event dedicated to showcasing emerging directors, powerful artistic visions and strong cinematic stories from the eight-state Midwest region. Every first Tuesday of the month at the Landmark Century Cinema, 2828 N. 2007 Golden Globe Award Winner America Ferrera (Best Actress in a Comedy, Ugly Betty) heads up an all-star cast in the Midwest independent drama, Steel City, written and directed by Alton, IL native Brian Jun, entirely shot and produced in Illinois. This superb ensemble includes Steppenwolf stalwart Laurie Metcalf, Prison Break’s John Heard and Raymond J. Barry, who has been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his portrayal of the unyielding Uncle Vic in this film.
